CAN COMPUTERS THINK LIKE HUMANS?
Can Computers Think?

Al means a computer capable of rational thought of the same quality as human rational thought.
Many computer experts believe the development of Al is possible, even inevitable humanists disagree saying there are fundamental reasons why a machine can never think like a human.
Have you read or seen a science fiction story in which computers could do everything that humans can do?
In real life, computers are not that clever, though they sometimes seem to be.
You can play chess with a computer, but you'll probably lose!
This is not because the computer is more intelligent than you are. It's because the computer has been programmed to work out quickly every possible move on the chess board,
And what effect it will have on the game. If the computer is correctly programmed, it can't make a wrong move.
Some people believe that one day computers really will function like a human brain. Others think that situation is just science fiction.
Artificial intelligence
Scientists are developing computers which seem to use intelligence to think.
Most computers can only follow a strict set of instructions.
Artificial intelligence, or AI, would make it possible for computers to learn new skills and solve problems without any instructions.
For example, artificial intelligence systems can now indicate to doctors what disease people have.
These and other systems need to be programmed with huge amounts of data before they can be used to solve problems.
